Woman decides not to marry a man and simply marry herself

In a unique twist to traditional weddings, Lulu Jemimah, a 32-year-old student at Oxford University from Uganda, decided to tie the knot with none other than herself. Yes, you heard that right!

On her 32nd birthday, August 27th, Lulu celebrated not just another year of life but a commitment to herself. Dressed in a stunning wedding gown, Lulu walked down the aisle to the tune of the traditional wedding march, surrounded by friends who had gathered to witness this unconventional ceremony.

She even gave a heartfelt speech explaining her decision to forgo a groom. Lulu's parents did not attend the ceremony in Uganda, but she later spoke to her mother to clarify her intentions. "When we talked the next day she was a bit confused and slightly hurt, but explained that by even wearing a wedding dress it proved I was ready for marriage," Lulu shared. Her father, however, remained uncertain about the whole affair.

On a GoFundMe page she set up to help cover her tuition fees, Lulu elaborated on her reasons for marrying herself: "My father wrote my wedding speech when I turned 16. Every birthday, my mother prays for me and in recent years this has included a plea for a good husband. Someone to take care of me. I decided to put them all at ease. I got married on my 32nd birthday to the one person I am certain will take care of me."

Interestingly, Lulu's self-wedding came at a minimal cost of just $2.62, which she spent on transportation to the venue. A friend generously loaned her the wedding gown as a birthday gift, her brother baked a wedding cake, and guests paid for their own drinks at the bar where the ceremony was held.

"I made the commitment to see this life through, at whatever cost," Lulu explained, emphasizing her determination to embrace life on her own terms.

Lulu Jemimah's story has sparked curiosity and admiration worldwide, highlighting the power of self-affirmation and independence. Her unconventional wedding serves as a reminder that happiness and fulfillment can come from within, regardless of societal norms or expectations.
