During a visit to the small village of Wanyange in Uganda in March 1998, d, former U.S. President Bill Clinton gently held a four-day-old baby boy. The baby. The grateful mother, Betty Namugosa, was so moved by the moment that she named her newborn son Bill Clinton Kaligani, saying, “If it had been a girl, I would have named her Hillary.”

Twenty-six years later, in 2024, that little baby now a 26-year-old aspiring surgeon got the reunion of a lifetime. Bill Clinton returned to Uganda with his daughter Chelsea on a Clinton Foundation tour across Africa, and authorities arranged a private helicopter to fly young Bill and his mother from their village to Entebbe so they could meet again.

“I grew up hearing the story and always considered him my dad,” Bill Clinton Kaligani told reporters, beaming with joy. “When he saw me, he smiled so big and encouraged me to study hard so I can achieve my dream of becoming a doctor.”

The former president spent a full hour catching up with the family, laughing about old memories and taking new photos together. “He was truly happy to see how my son has grown,” Namugosa said. “He promised to stay in touch and support his namesake’s education however he can.”

What began as a brief, kind gesture in 1998 has turned into a lifelong connection filled with hope, inspiration, and mutual respect, and love — proof that small acts of warmth can create beautiful stories that last decades. ❤️
