He promptly contacted Gigi's granddaughter, Karen, who had been away picking her mother up from a doctor's appointment.

Karen had the opportunity to witness the entire rescue through her doorbell camera, observing Wilmar assisting Gigi out of the vehicle and holding her hand as they made their way to the front door.

In an interview with Ring, Wilmar shared his perspective on the incident. "I was delivering and I saw this older lady walking by. She waved at me, which isn't an odd occurrence, people wave at you all the time as an Amazon driver. But she was waving at me like something happened. I noticed how she had this wristband on. And it had her name and her information, as well as who to contact."

Gigi's granddaughter expressed her immense gratitude for Wilmar's heroic act. His kindness and quick thinking ensured the senior's safe return home, preventing a potentially disastrous outcome. Karen acknowledged, "I felt that Wilmar went above and beyond. We have that type of a great close-knit community here, that if there's something that a driver's going to spot, that's out of line, he's going to say, 'I'm going to make sure that my customers are taken care of because this doesn't look right.'"

Karen's situation is particularly challenging, as she not only cares for Gigi but also her father, who is struggling with the same condition. To enhance her ability to monitor her loved ones and ensure their safety, she invested in home monitoring gadgets.

Wilmar's act of kindness resonated beyond Gigi's family. People on the internet also expressed their appreciation for his selfless actions.
