Cardi B is a famous musician who has won Grammy Awards and broken many records. She’s now living her “Best Life,” but things weren’t always easy for her.
She came from a humble background, and recently, she went back to her old middle school in the Bronx to give back and show appreciation for how it helped shape her life.
The 29-year-old star surprised students and teachers at I.S. 232, the school she attended when she was younger, with a generous gift. Cardi B donated $100,000 to support the school’s performing arts program. She shared a video of the special moment on Instagram, where she told the students just how important the school was to her.
In the video, Cardi B said, “This middle school has a very special place in my heart!! It turned me from an 11-year-old girl into a teenage adult." She explained that growing up in the Bronx can be tough, and kids there have to grow up quickly because of their surroundings. She added, “I went through a lot while I was here. The things I went through changed me and made me who I am today.”
She encouraged the kids to avoid the same mistakes she made and to always think about the future. “Think about where you want to be in a few years. It’s never too late,” she told them.
Cardi B hopes her donation will help the students succeed. The money will go toward creating programs, like an afterschool program, that can keep kids out of trouble and help them learn skills they can use for the rest of their lives. “I hope this donation helps create something amazing for you guys, something that can change your life,” Cardi said.
This visit to her old school is just the beginning. Cardi B plans to visit more schools in other areas like Queens and Brooklyn, working with a group called Community Capacity Development, which helps communities in need. Cardi also teased that she’s been working on something special for the past two years, and she can’t wait to share it soon.
For Cardi, giving back is about more than just money. It’s about making a real difference in people’s lives, and that difference can change someone's future forever.
