A simple night out at a Massachusetts restaurant took a dramatic turn when Rosiane Santos, 41, confronted a man wearing a “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) hat. The situation quickly escalated when she grabbed the hat off his head. What she didn’t expect? The entire incident was caught on camera and would soon go viral.

The man, Bryton Turner, recorded the confrontation at Casa Vallarta, a Mexican restaurant in Falmouth. Shortly after, police arrived and arrested Santos, charging her with assault and battery.
But that was just the beginning of her legal troubles. After her arrest, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) got involved, claiming Santos is in the U.S. illegally. She was taken into custody and later released, but now faces potential deportation.
Is She Really Here Illegally

Santos’ immigration lawyer, Katarina Kozakova, insists that she is in the country legally. She explained that Santos is married to a U.S. citizen and has applied for a green card. The application is still pending, meaning that she is currently in what’s called an "authorized state."
“We filed for a green card in November,” Kozakova told the Cape Cod Times. “It is still pending, so she is in an authorized state.”
What Led to the Confrontation?
According to the police report, Santos told officers she was upset that a man was wearing a MAGA hat while dining in a Mexican restaurant. Police say she was “highly intoxicated” and uncooperative at the time of her arrest.

Turner later commented on the situation, saying, “I never would’ve assumed she was illegal, but now she has to suffer the consequences.”

What’s Next?
Santos has had a Massachusetts driver’s license since 1996 and has some minor traffic infractions on her record. However, her lawyer insists she has never been convicted of anything that would impact her green card application.

As the legal process unfolds, Santos’ case has sparked debates about immigration policies, political tensions, and the consequences of public confrontations.
