The 57-year-old actress took to Instagram to commemorate this special milestone, sharing a collection of heartwarming throwback photos that encapsulate their journey together.

In her heartfelt caption, the EGOT-winning actress expressed the depth of their bond, acknowledging the challenges they have faced as a couple. Davis wrote, "We've seen the loss of family members and held each other up. We've had accolades, triumphs, joy, grief, exhaustion, and still I feel your grip. Through the fire and brimstone of life, we have held on... together... to each other... understanding no matter what, the promise is to not let go."

The Instagram post showcased their wedding picture and a precious snapshot with their daughter, Genesis. Davis embraced her role as a stepmother to Tennon's two children from his previous marriage, adding another layer of love and family to their union.

Concluding her heartfelt tribute, the "The Woman King" actress wished her beloved husband a "Happy 20th Anniversary" and affirmed her enduring love, writing, "To the end, my love." Davis' friends and family, including her "The Help" co-star Octavia Spencer, flooded the comment section with well-wishes and congratulations.

This celebration of love and commitment comes with an intriguing backstory. In a 2022 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Davis revealed an interesting revelation about her marriage. Despite initially meeting on the set of the 1999 CBS drama "City of Angels," Davis believes she manifested Tennon's presence in her life through prayer.

Davis shared that a friend encouraged her to pray specifically for the type of man she desired as a romantic partner. She prayed for a "big Black man from the South who's probably been married before," someone who understood the artistic community and had a deep connection with God. Little did she know that her prayers would be answered just a few weeks later when she crossed paths with Tennon, an "ex-football player, been married, raised his children on his own, and was an actor."

"He invited me to church. And I thought to myself, 'Whoa,'" Davis recalled with a sense of wonder. On June 23, 2003, Tennon and Davis exchanged vows in Rhode Island, embarking on a journey of love, faith, and partnership.

Sharing their lives both personally and professionally, the couple has ventured into the realm of business together. They co-founded JuVee Productions, a production company that has brought captivating films like "Lila & Eve" and "The Woman King" to the silver screen.

Viola Davis and Julius Tennon's remarkable story serves as a testament to the power of love, prayer, and shared dreams. Their enduring partnership not only inspires us but reminds us that true love knows no bounds and that the journey of love is made even more beautiful when traveled hand in hand.
