Shameka Morris, a tattoo enthusiast and fashion designer from Florida, is facing criticism for her parenting choices after sharing images of her son, Treylin Armani, adorned in temporary tattoos on social media. Despite the backlash, the mom has no plans of stopping, saying her son enjoys the body art and it’s a personal expression of her parenting.
It all began when Morris started posting photos of Treylin—who is now 4 years old and goes by @nuggetworld561 on Instagram—at just six months old. In the images, the baby was dressed in adorable outfits and covered in fake tattoos, a look that has since made him an Instagram and TikTok sensation.
The controversy, however, goes back further. The backlash started with Morris’ maternity photoshoot, where she posed at her brother’s tattoo shop while eight months pregnant. She shared the photos on social media, with her belly covered in tattoos. Some critics jokingly claimed her baby would be born "covered in tattoos," a comment that Morris found amusing at the time but decided to embrace. "I’m going to get back at them," she said in a later interview with Nugget World followers.
As Morris continued posting pictures and videos of her son wearing temporary tattoos, the online reactions became more critical. Many questioned whether it was appropriate for a baby to be covered in body art, even if it was temporary. However, Morris remained unfazed, saying that Treylin enjoys his "tattoos" and she sees nothing wrong with letting him express himself, even at such a young age.
“I don’t care how anyone views my parenting skills,” Morris posted on her Instagram account, @subwaytatted_. “The more the world gets upset, the more I’m going to keep putting Nugget tattoos on him. He loves his temporary tattoos, so why not tatt him TF up?”
Despite the criticism, the publicity has propelled Treylin to viral stardom. The toddler now boasts 1.5 million followers on TikTok and over 54,000 on Instagram, making him a social media sensation.
Though the controversy surrounding her son’s ink continues to stir debate, Morris stands firm in her belief that her parenting choices are her own. While some may question her decision to decorate her son with temporary tattoos, Morris is unapologetic, saying that it’s all in good fun and a form of self-expression that her son enjoys.
