Cheryl and Quran McCain are proving that love knows no age. The couple, who became famous on TikTok for their fun dance videos and loving relationship, tied the knot in September 2021. Despite a 37-year age gap and constant online criticism, their bond remains unshaken.
A Love Story That Went Viral
Cheryl, 61, and Quran, 24, first caught attention on TikTok with their playful videos and undeniable chemistry. Cheryl never expected to go viral when she posted her first dance video, but it quickly gained thousands of likes.
“When I shared it, I instantly got 8,000 likes. I never planned to go viral,” Cheryl said.
The couple became an internet sensation, but the attention came with a downside—hateful comments about their age difference and appearances. Still, Cheryl and Quran chose to focus on their love and the joy they bring each other.
Dancing Through Criticism
Despite the negativity, Cheryl says Quran has been her biggest supporter. After considering leaving TikTok due to harsh comments, Cheryl posted an appreciation video in May 2021, thanking Quran for uplifting her.
"I was going to stop making TikToks because of all the hate, but a great soul from my past kept me uplifted," Cheryl said.
Since then, their videos have been a hit, with millions of views and followers who celebrate their unique story.
A Special Wedding Day
After five and a half months of dating, Cheryl and Quran got married in the picturesque mountains of Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Cheryl wore a long white dress and sandals for the intimate ceremony.
“He is my soulmate. He genuinely makes me happy, and I make him happy,” Cheryl shared. “I said yes because I felt in my heart that there was an unbreakable connection.”
Facing Challenges Together
The couple admits that the online hate can be tough to deal with. Cheryl, who has battled self-esteem issues, shared an emotional TikTok in August, saying, “I have lost myself. My self-esteem is so low. I don’t feel pretty anymore.”
However, she says Quran’s love and support keep her going. “We ignore the hate as much as possible. Some days it does get to us, but we uplift each other,” Cheryl said.
Cheryl and Quran are determined to rise above the negativity and focus on their life together. “I don’t worry about what anyone says about him or his past because we are the future,” Cheryl said.
