You don’t have to be a large person to have a gigantic stage presence.
Brenden Baker was just 11 years old when a video of him dancing on stage went viral around the world. Brenden was born with a rare form of dwarfismcalled Desbuquois syndrome, so even though he was older he remained the size of a small toddler for his entire life. Yet Brenden’s condition never once prevented him from changing the world around him for the better.
Everyone around his hometown of Abilene, Texas, knew and loved this little ball of fire, and he was well-known for encouraging people to contribute to children’s charities in and around Texas. He was particularly involved with raising funds for the Children’s Miracle Network and the Abilene Community Theatre.
During one charity event, Brenden came out on stage with his walker to perform a hip-hop dance with the Fly dance group.
Brenden may not look like a natural-born dancer, but you will be surprised when you see him bust out his dance moves! Using his walker for support, the tiny dancer performed some fancy footwork that left everyone grinning from ear to ear. He even managed a little spin that made the other hip-hop dancers stand up and cheer!
The fact that Brenden was able to dance at all is nothing short of impressive. “He was a force to be reckoned with,” said family friend Paige Sproles. “They didn’t think he would ever walk, but he walked. They didn’t think he’d ever talk. He talked.”
Brenden’s positive attitude and boundary-breaking physicality is truly inspiring for us all! Take a look at the little guy in action in the video below, and be sure to share his inspiring story with others.
